Xenia, Ohio is a beautiful Midwestern city positioned in Greene County. It is located about 15 miles east of Dayton, Ohio and about 60 miles west of Columbus, Ohio. Xenia serves as the county seat of Greene County and is the 8th largest city therein. In 2016, the United States Census Bureau reported that 26,000 people were living in Xenia.
Xenia is located in an area that was originally inhabited by Native American Indian tribes. In 1803, a European-American named Joseph Vance surveyed the town. John Marshall was the first individual to construct a cabin within its borders. By 1840, the population of Xenia had grown significantly. The population growth was caused by the arrival of the Little Miami Railroad. By 1847, there were ten churches, two newspaper offices, an iron foundry, one bank, and seventeen stores operating in Xenia. Today, Xenia is a beautiful, developed city.
